Eye on Idol
Canadian Idol finalists Casey LeBlanc, Amber Fleury and Ashley Leitao -- who have teamed up as trio -- began recording their debut album this week in a southern Ontario studio.
LeBlanc, of Nackawic, N.B., Fleury, of Calgary, and Leitao, of Burnaby, B.C. graced Idol's Top 10 in Season 3. LeBlanc made it the furthest of the three, ending her stint at Top 5.
While they aren't giving any hints on what the group will be called, their producer -- Idol accompanyist Mark Lalama -- said their sound will fall somewhere between Sheryl Crow and Fleetwood Mac.
"It's going to be very organic," he told The Canadian Press.
The project was spearheaded by Lalama, who began working with Canadian Idol in Season 3 and who also arranges music for the show. He has previously worked with Amy Sky and Mark Jordan, and be credited as a songwriter on the album.
Work is already well underway, according to Casey's mom Connie, who told Eye on Idol the trio has been working at Lalama's Fenwick studio for less than a week, but has already cut a couple tracks.
The recording session is expected to last about two weeks.
Before joining forces in the studio, these ladies have had plenty to do on their own. Since ending their runs with Idol last summer, they have performed in numerous concerts and charity events and even a few television appearances.
