Citation :Kalan Porter to release his sophomore album Wake Up Living on August 28th, 2007
Kalan Asks "Who Are You Running For?" at the 2007 Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure
TORONTO, July 6 /CNW/ - Kalan Porter's Wake Up Living, the follow up to
his double Platinum selling debut album titled 219 days, will be released by
SONY BMG MUSIC (CANADA) INC. on Tuesday, August 28, 2007. "Down in Heaven" is
already Top 30 at Hot A/C radio with adds across the country.
One of the most anticipated albums of the year, Wake Up Living was mixed
and produced at Cookie Jar Studio in Studio City, LA by famed producer Brian
Malouf (Pink, Everclear, Dave Matthews Band, Bon Jovi.) Kalan co-wrote over
half of the album including "Karma King" with Peter Zizzo (Celine Dion,
Avril Lavigne, Diana Ross) and "Destination (Where I belong)" co-written with
Rob Wells (Backstreet Boys, Nick Lachey, Matt Dusk.)
"I had a lot of experiences carrying into the second album," Porter says.
"Writing became very therapeutic, giving me an outlet to let out my emotions
and process what happened to my family over the last two years."
After a 65 date, sold-out cross Canada tour, Kalan's life changed when he
received news that his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Upon returning
to the studio, Kalan was able to share his experiences, especially noted on
the first single "Down in Heaven", to which he contributed lyrics. The single
is an empowering song about perseverance and hope, co-written with Ashley
Gorley (Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood) and Chris Farren (Paul Brandt,
Westlife.)
This led him to lend his voice to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation,
the leading national volunteer-based organization in Canada dedicated to
creating a future without breast cancer. The Foundation raises funds for
quality breast cancer research, education and awareness programs. Kalan says
that after learning of his mother's diagnosis, he was grateful for the work of
the Foundation and the difference it was making in his family's life. On
September 30, Kalan will be participating in the Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. He invites others across the country to join
Team Kalan Porter in support of the cause by registering online at
www.cbcf.org and clicking through to Team Kalan Porter.
Kalan will be kick-starting the launch of his album with a special
appearance this summer on CTV's Canadian Idol.
With a double Platinum album, an eight times Platinum debut single, which
won the best-selling single debut ever for a Canadian artist and award
recognitions including a MuchMusic Video Award and 2006 JUNO nominations for
"Album Of The Year", "Artist Of The Year" and "Pop Album Of The Year", Kalan's
success story is only beginning!
