Eye on Idol
Love may be in the air for Canadian Idol winner Brian Melo and girlfriend Tara Oram, but an engagement is not.
Despite rumours that Top 6 finisher Oram had been wearing something shiny on her finger, Melo said he had not proposed.
"No. It's just a ring," Melo told CTV's "eTalk" while taking a break from skiing at Mont Tremblant.
Living life in the public eye isn't always easy, but Melo said he likes to keep the attention on his music and not his relationship.
"I try to not give up too much dirt and keep it private. That means I think if you're going out to a lot of public events, and there's a lot of different media coverage and stuff like that, you know you might be asking for it, but I try to stay focused on the music."
With Valentine's Day approaching, Melo has yet to finalize his plans for the big day.
"I don't know. Maybe I'll come back here to Mont Tremblant but I don't know. I haven't really put too much thought into it yet," said Melo. "I'll do something nice. I'll do something nice for her. I've done the candles thing, the dinner, stuff like that.
"Valentine's Day is cool and all but it's kind of like, for me, sometimes I think it's kind of a Hallmark holiday, you know what I mean? If you love the person, then show them every day."
