All that online exposure apparentlytranslated to votes for sexy New Jersey shore hopeful Antonella Barba, who stayed alive last night on "American Idol."

Her risqué pictures were the top hit on Yahoo at noon, and by 9 p.m., it was decided her singing career would continue for at least another week.

Show host Ryan Seacrest said 32 million votes were cast for last night’s contestants and enough of them chose the Point Pleasant hottie to move on to Idol’s sweet 16.

Her selection flew in the face of the show’s panel of judges, who largely criticized Barba’s past two performances.

The moment of truth for Barba came late in the show when she was summoned onstage as one of the final three performers to discover their fate.

Of the three, Seacrest chose to speak to Barba first, and he opted to torture the sexy songstress, and all her New Jersey fans, if only for a moment.

"I’m sorry," Seacrest said, holding for a long, pregnant pause.

"You’re going to have to deal with Simon again," the host said as he informed her that the voters had extended her stay.

There was no mention of the Internet controversy surrounding Barba on last night’s show and the embattled beauty was hardly featured at all -- a good thing for her considering those who were eliminated received the most air-time.

There’s really no telling either, if her Internet infamy was the main contributing factor in her survival, or if voters simply felt differently from the judges and liked Barba’s singing.

Her popularity in online searches however, can be directly linked to the seemingly endless batches of racy photos that have been plastered all over the Web.

Barba has yet to speak about the photos, or dispute that the images are her. One friend however, Amanda Coluccio, has been quoted in publications claiming that many of the pictures are not Barba.

Pictures ranging in naughtiness from party shots of her drinking, to fully nude, sexually explicit images are all purported to be the Idol star.

The show’s producers have chosen to ignore the Web buzz, or perhaps revel in it, and they haven’t acted to penalize Barba in anyway.

In 2003 however, Idol dumped contestant Franchelle "Frenchie" Davis after it was revealed that she posed topless for an Internet porn site.

And while the pictures and the controversy they’ve spread were not discussed last night, it was apparent that the judges felt the wrong young women were going home.

They didn’t mention Barba by name, but when show judge Simon Cowell was asked if the right contestants were eliminated, he said: "Not necessarily. No.

"But then this is American Idol, isn’t it?"

Even Cowell’s fellow judge Paula Abdul, who had the most generous assessment of Barba’s last performance, seemed to feel the voters were off.

"It’s a singing competition," Abdul said. "Everyone needs to vote and remember who they loved singing."

Barba will make her next American Idol appearance when the eight remaining female contestants perform again on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

That show will be followed by another round of voting and yet another elimination show the next night, also at 8 p.m.

Les auditeurs américains voient en elle quelques choses qui nous échappent sûrement...

Souhaitons qu'ils s'ouvrent les oreilles un peu plus cette semaine...de belles "pitounes" il y en a beaucoup alors que de bonnes interprètes, c'est plus rare.

Citation :I knew it!!!! Well that picture is priceless. I'm not an antonella fan, but I can not deny what I saw. I am really really really sure that Blake is into Antonella. These are sort of the proves;

(a) When the elimination stage to get to top 24, you will see that Blake was sitting one man apart to Antonella. But then when the elimination started, at some takes, you will see Antonella moved to right to get close to Blake, and the other takes, you will see Blake moved left to sit right beside Antonella. And even when Chris R went down after being picked, you will see that Blake's chair is moved to face Antonella's chair. Looks like Blake's crush to Antonella begins;

(a) You will see Blake did not move his position to be standing behind Antonella (only him and Jared who did not move from their position, Jared stood behind Jordin, well that is another story because I would say Jared and Jordin also has this little crush story going on) on two occasions: when the top 24 and the top 20 stood together on the stage at the very beginning of the eliminations of top 24 and top 20 began. Even in the top 20 elims, you will see that when the camera went to blake and antonella, when Ryan said: out, you will see that Antonella's shoulder a little be moved like a little snapped to Blake's chest and you will see Blake's face went like: "ouch". And boy, you will see that Blake and Antonella (no matter how Antonella got a very bad critics back when she performed) always smiled widely;

© When they sang "seeds of love" when Blake's group (blake, rudy, sundance and phil) have to go upstair, you will see that when Blake passed Antonella on the stair, he intentionally turned his head to Antonella like teasing her or something that made Antonella smiled widely;

(d) When Blake sang Virtual Insanity, you knew that when he turned his head to the girls (twice and the second one is so obvious), he specifically looked at Antonella. The second one is in the middle of the song, when he marched toward the girls. Antonella just smiled happily. You will see that Antonella grew happier and happier each days. On the first top 24 performance, you will see that she really rare smiling. But each day, she just seemed to enjoy the eps, specially Blake's.

(e) After Blake sang Virtual Insanity, when Simon said bad things, you will see Antonella protesting (gesturing her hands also). Well, you never see her emotions, right? That is the first time I saw her protesting. Gosh, something going on;

(f) Antonella rarely turned her head to the guys when she sang, right? But on the top 16, she turned his head towards where Blake was sitting and kind of flirting or something;

(g) She did it again when she sang on her elimination;

(h) At the night when Leslie sang her last song, you will see that Blake went down to join the crowed and he picked the right side beside Haley who stood in the middle of Blake and Antonella. If you watch it carefully, you will see that Haley turned her head to Antonella and looked like she said something to Antonella that made Antonella, a few minutes later, turned her head to the right side sort of like looking for someone (Blake) there;

(i) At the time of the elimination night to top 12, you will see something going on Blake. He did not stand behind Antonella and you will see that Antonella was very sad and even she can not force a smile;

(j) At that night, when Blake and Lakisha were called to go down to the center of the stage, you will see that Antonella lift her head to see Blake (she did not try that hard to see the other contestants when they were called, only Blake), and she looked happy when she knew Blake made it to top 12;

(k) At that night, at most of times, you will see that Antonella seemed to ignore of what is going on (she did not look at ryan or other contestants), she just looked straight (to where Blake's sitting);

(l) When she got eliminated and she sang her last song, you will see that the camera did not zooming at blake (I really do think that the producers are trying to keep Blake-Antonella's relationship out of the radar, maybe it is not good for markets), but at far you can see that Blake kept on looking at the band like he is trying to not looking at Antonella. And when Sabrina and Sundance sang their songs, you could see that at most of times, Blake kept on looking down like he was just trying to hide his face. Don't know why.;

(m) And, the last but not least, the picture proves that there is something really going on with those two: at that picture, Antonella looked very happy and Blake too (his smile never looked that wide), and at the same time Blake looked like: "ups, someone caught me". If you see Blake's left hand and the way he leaned on toward Antonella and Antonella's right hand squeezing Blake's upper arm, you will admit that before they were not posting just for the camera, they were just in the middle of something and got interrupted for posting to the camera. Hey, I really believe that Blake's hand will not be so naughty like that just for posting to the camera. He seemed to be a very polite and kind man to me, but this time, if you zooming the picture, you will see his left hand like squeezing Antonella's thigh. It is way different when he posted for top 20 (he was sitting with Sabrina's legs over his lap, but he did not touch them like he touched Antonella's).

There, I'm glad that those feelings and curiosities are out of my chest now.

Oh, I hope that I can get more evidence to this couple. I know I will get unfriendly posts from my fellow blaker or caker (I'm still a big fan of both of them), but I just can't deny what I saw. So….Blantonella is what I ship too.
I love Blake and I always like the way he interacts with Chris R. I believe they are straights, so I can not see more romance on them. All I can see is that they have a great bond between them. A soulmate bond or childhood friends bond or even brotherly bonds. It seemed that they always looked for one another, and Chris R is sorta looked up to Blake and they even share special handshake that even Blake did not share it with sligh. It is like they finally met their lifetime friends. And it is precious too.

Antonella Barba, whose controversial, semi-nude Internet-posted photos overshadowed her singing talents and those of other American Idol contestants, said she hopes to embark on a professional singing career despite Thursday's elimination from the Fox talent show.

"I hoped to remain on the show because of my talent. I hope the photos didn't affect where I got in the competition," the 20-year-old New Jersey native said Friday afternoon, noting that she had been "exploited" by the photos that were posted without her permission. "I've learned to be careful who you trust," she said.

Photos showing Barba in various stages of undress — as well as fake photos of someone appearing to look like her engaging in sexual acts — surfaced on the Internet two weeks ago — but received no mention on the top-rated Idol.

Barba says she did feel pressured by publicity surrounding the photos, but that Idol producers "kept me focused on the competition and to ignore the other stuff."

"That's not what I'm about," she said. "All that other stuff was irrelevant. It was definitely difficult (to deal with), and it wasn't how I intended things to go. But I tried to block out as much as possible and focus on the competition. I'm here to sing."

Barba, a student at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., says she plans to remain in Los Angeles for a week or two to see what offers might surface. She would prefer a singing career, particularly focusing on pop music, but says she would consider acting or modeling gigs.

"I want to strike while the iron's hot," Barba says. "I want to make a name for myself singing. I wasn't trying to promote myself in any way (through the photos)."

Barba says she has no plans — as rumored — to pose for Playboy magazine. "I was never approached," she said. Asked if she would pose, she said, "absolutely not."

"The pictures that actually are of me are very personal," Barba says. "That is not how I intended to portray myself nor do I intend to portray myself in the future. That was personal, private and not for the public."

Dru Libby, a public relations rep for Idol, blocked reporters from asking Barba several questions. "She was almost in tears after the (30-minute media session)," Libby said. "You could tell she was wearing down. She was getting that lump in her throat where she was breaking down. After six questions...honestly, she couldn't take it anymore."
