Amanda Overmyer

It was far less dramatic this time, but that was OK for Amanda Overmyer and her legions of fans.
On Wednesday night, Overmyer, the 23-year-old Mulberry resident, successfully rocked her way into another week of "American Idol" on Fox.
Some of her biggest fans have been watching her during and after their league bowling at Market Square Lanes, co-owned by Overmyer's fiance Casey Taylor.
"There was no doubt," said Al Schaeffer, a longtime friend of Taylor's, after Overmyer was announced early in the episode that she would return next week early.
Schaeffer and several of his fellow bowlers watched Wednesday night's episode closely in the bowling alley's bar, Jerillee's Pub, over bottles of Bud Lite and Samuel Adams.
While Overmyer and 10 other contestants survived, Arizona's David Hernandez was eliminated.
Inside Jerillee's, many customers were still talking about Overmyer's Tuesday performance of the Beatles' "You Can't Do That." A tough task for some of the other singers that night, West Lafayette's Alan Mehringer believed she did a good job of interpreting the Fab Four.
"She's just handling the pressure amazingly well," he said.
Between frames, bowlers were weighing in on their predictions of how far Overmyer will last in the competition.
"She might make it to the top four," said Angie Schulinga of Attica.
Husband Chad Schulinga concurred.
"I think she's all right," he said. "As far as all the women on there, she's the most unique."
Lafayette's Betty Paul is holding out hope that Overmyer will make it to the finals.
"She just keeps rockin' out every week," she said. "We love it."
Back in the bar, Schaeffer laughs at how much he has watched the hit reality show. He admitted he never paid attention to the show until this season.
"The fact that I'm watching this is a tribute to her," Schaeffer smiled. "We've been in here every Wednesday so far hitting redial on our phones to vote for her."

JOYEUX NOEL ET BONNE ANNÉE 2009!!!!
Citation : Motorcycle riding Idol rocks the Beatles
By the Staff of Clutch and Chrome
March 11th, 2008
It was an interesting night on American Idol with the highlight of background footage surely being the brief shot of Amanda Overmyer riding with the rest of her motorcycle mad family and friends.
Oh yes, there was some singing too.
The competition before our every own motorcycle riding, rocking nurse graced the stage varied from absolutely amazing to quickly unforgettable, and the performances couldn't be blamed on a funky theme. The song selection came from the best writing duo in rock or pop history, John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Contestants appeared to be able to choose from the earliest Beatles hits right up to their last album, Let it be.
So what would Amanda Overmyer choose from over thirteen albums and many, many great singles?
Her choice was 'Can't do that', one of the Beatles early numbers but dressed up with rock rhythms and some scat. Amanda's performance was absolutely on fire with so much energy, it felt as if she should be hooked up to a power grid to light up a city.
Randy felt she brought a Southern bar feel to the song and "Rocked it out."
"You are a star up there," Paula exclaimed, "I'm blown away!"
Although Simon didn't feel the performance was as good as the week before, he felt Amanda "was a very good thing. You're like a breath of fresh air!" he said.
It was an uneven episode of performances that saw favorites such as David Archuleta not only hit some flat notes, but also forget the words of the song.
As many readers may know, Amanda Overmyer is the American Idol contestant officially endorsed by Clutch and Chrome, the absolutely free online resource for riders everywhere.

American Idol Nurse Not Going To Chase Unicorns

Frank Micelotta/FOXWhen Ryan Seacrest revealed that Amanda Overmyer was going home, Amanda handled the news with calmness and gracefulness. When asked about her good natured way of handling elimination, Amanda said, “Yesterday wasn’t the most dramatic thing that’s happened in my life. You know, I just got voted off of a TV show, and I was thankful to be there and privileged to have that many millions of Americans vote for me just to keep me on until eleven, and for someone like me who’s completely different. You know, I’m kind of out of a different mold than everyone else in the competition. I found that very warming that I had that much support.”
Even though Amanda Overmyer gained the label of being the rocker chick, she didn’t feel that helped her in the competition. Amanda explained, “Being my own personal style helped me as far as being the quintessential rocker chick I guess, but as far as the competition itself, I wouldn’t say that it necessarily helped me, because young kids are not going to relate to me as easily as they do the other ones.”
While contestants often blame their elimination on song choice or on going first, Amanda Overmyer didn’t take that road. Amanda said, “I don’t think that the song choice had anything to do with it, because if it wasn’t that song it was going to be another song that sounded like me singing it. I don’t necessarily think it was the song choice, and you’ll never hear me pissing and whining that I was first or anything like that. I definitely had hoped for maybe like position six or seven, but it’s not how it worked out, so it is what it is. You know, I’m not going to cry over spilt milk.”
In regards to what her future holds after American Idol, Amanda Overmyer had a very realistic and responsible outlook on life. Amanda said, “I’m a very ambitious and driven person by nature, and I’m going to take calculated risks to achieve success, but everyone’s definition of success varies from person to person. Success can mean a strong healthy family, and success in whatever job that you do. I wouldn’t have it in me, if this is just fifteen minutes of fame, I’m not going to chase it my whole life trying to get it back. I’ll take it for what it is, and move on. Hopefully, it’s not. Hopefully, I can make a career out of this, but it’s not going to be that unicorn that I keep chasing.”

Hi everyone! I figured the best way to contact all of you was through this Blog. My first Blog mind ya! So here goes!
I personally want to thank each and every one of you for all of the support, love and kind words you have bestowed upon me! I was able to view a lot of your comments but I was not able to respond. I do not think words could describe how you all have made me feel. I even got the support of people who I never thought would get me! Oh Chile! I love you all!!
I want to let you all know that I am doing fine. I am completely satisfied with the outcome. I accomplished what I set out to accomplish and with out you I never would have made it as far as I did. Always double down on 11!
A lot of you have been asking what is next for me. There are people talking to people. What all that means is yet to be determined! My goal is to perform for people who like to hear me sing. If that is a large venue or just sitting around a fire pit with friends I am okay with it.
I’d like to close and say again how each of you has touched my heart! This is not the end of my Blog, this is the beginning of what I hope to be a fantastic journey that I can share with you all!
