Kellie Pickler Guitar Debut! "I Wonder" Acoustic

Kellie breaks out her new acoustic guitar on her bus for a stripped down version of "I Wonder" during her new photo shoot. She has only been learning guitar for a few weeks, but wanted to share her progress so far with you.

Post a video response if you want to give "I Wonder" a try for yourself.

Sorry about the background noise. The bus was hummin'.

KELLIE PICKLER'S SELF-TITLED, SOPHOMORE ALBUM OUT SEPT. 30

NASHVILLE, TN – Almost two years since the release of her debut album, Small Town Girl, which has sold nearly 800,000 copies, Kellie Pickler is set to release her self-titled, sophomore album on September 30.

"I'm so excited and proud of the new album," said Pickler. "I've learned so much since the first album, like the fact that Budapest is the capital of Hungary," she laughed. "The material on the new album is part small town girl, but also a reflection of the experiences I've had over the last two years. I've matured, some, seen a lot more of the world, and naming the album Kellie Pickler says, 'this album is me, this is who I am and where I am,'" she continued.

The album's lead single, "Don't You Know You're Beautiful," is an up-tempo, positive message about inner beauty and addresses the issues of body image and societal pressures on young women. Other songs on the album include "Best Days Of Your Life," a song she co-wrote with her pal Taylor Swift while on the road together last year. Taylor recently joined Kellie in studio to record background vocals on the song.

The album will also feature "Rocks Instead Of Rice," a song that Kellie wrote with "Before He Cheats" writers Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear and has been performing on the road this summer. It's a tongue in cheek look at a woman at the wedding of a former boyfriend and how much more gratifying the experience would be if the guests were throwing rocks instead of rice.

Produced by Chris Lindsey, this album allowed Kellie to enjoy the process of making an album, whereas Small Town Girl was recorded while Kellie was on the American Idol Tour, so she didn't have the ability to be as involved. With Kellie Pickler, she's been part of the creative process from the beginning, working with Lindsey on arrangements, instrumentation and song selection.

Leading up the September 30 release of Kellie Pickler, she is spending the summer on tour before co-hosting and performing on the CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock, which will air on September 8 on ABC.

Singer Kellie Pickler forges career with smarts, humor
Once thought ditzy on ‘American Idol,’ she now shows savvy side

By RODNEY HO

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

For many viewers of “American Idol” in 2006, Kellie Pickler will forever be remembered as the ditzy, Southern blonde who had no clue what calamari was. Many presumed she’d disappear into the fame ether.

But the 22-year-old Albermarle, N.C., native is far savvier than she appears in developing her own career path even if she isn’t going to be on “Jeopardy” anytime soon.

Her debut CD “Small Town Girl” has sold nearly 800,000 copies, generating three top 15 hits and outselling season winner Taylor Hicks. She’s won three CMT awards, recently hosted a CMA Music Festival special on ABC and is releasing her self-titled sophomore album Sept. 30. And she’s set to co-host “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” this year with Ryan Seacrest.

Not bad for a gal who, on “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” said she had never heard of the country Hungary.

We spoke to her by phone before her appearance tonight at the North Georgia State Fair in Marietta:

Q: Where are you now?

A: I’m in Idaho. I’ve been about everywhere. I never really get to see anything. I kind of like come in and sing and get the hell out of here and go on to the next show. It’s a bummer. I’ve been on the road for three years straight!

Q: You’re a new artist. That’s what you have to do, right?

A: Country music is like that. You see Kenny Chensey touring all year long, every year. It never changes. I’ve looked at pop schedules. They don’t usually tour all year long. They might do 20 or 30 dates. We do like 200 dates a year.

Q: So how’s your second album looking?

A: I think it turned out real well. This is album is 10 times better than the first one. I’ve been able to spend time with it and really love everything.

Q: What’s the music mix going to be?

A: They’ll be fun uptempo girl anthems as well as ballads. I think my songwriting has improved a lot. I’ve grown a lot more as an artist. A lot has happened in the last few years since my first record. I have a lot to say!

Q: What’s been the strangest concert date you’ve done so far?

A: I think some of the festivals get a little crazy, the ones that last all day like Country Thunder [in Twin Lakes, Wis., in July]. People get here at 9 or 10 in the morning and get their lawn chairs out. By the time I get on late in the evening, they’re all wasted! You get people toted off in handcuffs for hitting on somebody’s wife. It’s never a dull moment. I try to look away or I’ll start laughing.

Q: Have you ever really lost it during a song?

A: I have laughed in the middle of an uptempo song. It’s easier to hold it together during a ballad. People will throw stuff on stage. I’ve had people throw bras! I’m not Kid Rock! I’ve seen people dressed up like pickles with a face and arms. And red heels.

Q: Are you sick of the whole red high heels thing [based on her first hit single “Red High Heels”]?

A: A lot of times girls will throw their red shoes on stage. Anytime people throw anything on stage, they want you to sign it. I’ll sign and throw it back. I have to be careful though. They can lose an eye!

Q: Do you feel obligated to wear red high heels all the time?

A: People give them to me all the time. I don’t want them. I’m so sick of having red shoes now. I’m just burned out on them. I’ll be at Wal-Mart or a restaurant and people will ask why I’m not wearing red heels. I’m going to have to do a song now about diamonds or a Mercedes!

Citation :Kellie Pickler's new album reveals growing pains
BY CINDY WATTS • STAFF WRITER • September 28, 2008

Buzz up! It's been two years since Kellie Pickler released her debut album, Small Town Girl, to country music fans. And in that time, defiant-yet-vulnerable radio hits like "Red High Heels" and "I Wonder" have ratcheted sales to almost 800,000 copies.

But today Pickler isn't the same naive North Carolina girl she was in 2006, when, at 19, she was thrust into the spotlight as a finalist on American Idol. She's grown up. And, she says, like it or not, many of the songs on her new self-titled sophomore album — due in stores Tuesday — reflect that growth.

"It's weird going from someone no one really knew or cared about to all of a sudden everyone wants to know everything about you," she explains. "It is a little different growing up in the public eye during that transition from teenager to woman. And some people don't want you to change; they want you to stay the same forever. But you can't. You wake up every day a little bit changed."

Pickler spent the past two years writing and searching for songs for the album that embody who she is as a person and an artist. She'd a write a song, think that it was destined for the project and then write or find an even better one.

"It's not only been so therapeutic, but such a learning journey of finding out who I am through the making of this album," she says. "I know Kellie Pickler better."

In the end, Pickler co-wrote five of the 10 cuts on the album, but she said the outside songs she selected also closely mimic her life.

"All the songs are very personal as far as (being) about different things I've been through for the past two years," she says. "I've been in different relationships and experienced different heartache and disappointment as well as happiness and acceptance. . . . The heartbreak songs are a thing of the past. I'm not in that period of my life right now, but I was there and I know what it feels like. They are all me, they are all pieces of a puzzle to my life."

That's not to say she actually went to her ex's wedding and threw rocks instead of rice, like the third song on her new album suggests. She wrote "Rocks Instead of Rice" with Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins, and Pickler says the song was Kear's idea.

"I was (ticked) off about this guy I used to date," she says. "We had a bad breakup and some stuff was still taking place, and I was so angry with him. It was funny because Josh walked into the room, told me he had an idea about going to a wedding and throwing rocks instead of rice. I go, 'Oh my God, that's so where I'm at right now.' It was good to make light of a sad situation."

But it's the deeply personal "Somebody To Love Me" of which Pickler is most proud. The song was born from a distraught late-night e-mail the singer sent to friend and fellow songwriter Aimee Mayo. Pickler said on the surface she had "everything," but that she was so lonely she was crying herself to sleep at night. She closed the note with, "I just want somebody to love me." And even though it was 3 a.m. when Pickler sent it, Mayo wrote back and said, "We have to write that."

"I think 'Somebody To Love Me' and 'One Last Time' are the best songs I've ever written," Pickler says. "And I don't think I'll ever write a song better than those. I went through a really dark period in my life. My career was going great, but everything in my personal life was crumbling. I was insecure and I think it's crazy sometimes, the people you want to love you the most don't. I have so many people who love and support me — friends, fans and the people I work with. That's great. But there are other people who are absent from my life whose love I long for. And on a relationship standpoint, it's sad when you are in a relationship and you're lonelier than you are when you're not in a relationship. I would rather be lonely and alone than with someone and alone."

Pickler says the last two years have also taught her about "filtering" the people she lets into her life. She looks at every relationship and asks herself if that person makes her a better person. If the answer is no, she lets them go. And since her ascent into the spotlight, it's gotten increasingly hard to find people with which to surround herself.

"I really only have one friend," she says. "I have my childhood friend from home, and she comes out to Nashville and stays with me and goes on the road with me. She's the only person I trust wholeheartedly as far as friends go, and I would rather have one great friend than 100 so-so friends."

Starting Tuesday, Pickler isn't going to have much time for her best friend or anyone else. She's launching her new album from The Today Show in New York City and hitting the television talk show circuit in promotion of the disc. Then she's going on tour with Sugarland this fall, she wants to do another USO Tour and she's hosting segments of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. It's the latter event that most rattles the young singer.

"I started spazzing out the other night thinking about it," she says. "Part of me is like, 'I wanna back out because I'm scared.' "

But more than anything, Pickler just hopes the next two years will be as rewarding, career-wise, as the last two have been.

"My No. 1 goal is this album, and I just pray that it does well and is successful," she says. "I just pray my music is still climbing in two years."

J'ai lu hier sur internet (peut-être le site de perez) qu'elle aurait fait une grosse dépression l'an passé je crois où il y a 2 ans.  Pauvre elle.
