American Idol: Oddsmakers predict Blake Lewis gets voted off tonightIt seems the entire world, other than Entertainment Weekly and me, is expecting Blake Lewis to be going home after the results of last nights semifinals round of American Idol are revealed on tonight’s show. Oddsmakers at Bookmaker.com think Blake’s leaving the show is a “Slam Dunk” by installing -245 odds on the beat-boxer from Bothell, Wash. Coming into Tuesday’s show, Jordin Sparks was the bookies darling but after her trio of performances she seems to have slipped and is the second most likely contestant to be eliminated with +225 odds. Even still, Jordin is expected to be in the finals with Melinda Doolittle, the favorite with +675 odds to become the next American Idol.
If it were left to me, I would prefer to see Jordin sent home and Blake and Melinda to battle it out in the finals next week. Blake and Melinda are the most talented of the three contestants and I do consider that a slam-dunk. Tonight we will see what the rest of the country thinks.
Blake Lewis has always been the most original and creative of all the contestants to emerge from the Hollywood round of competition months ago. Although talented, I never thought Jordin Sparks had what it takes to get this far. Granted, the young lady (only 17 years old) is very talented and will have a long and profitable career, but there seems to be a lack of polish. Her voice reveals huge potential for a girl of her age but it seems to me all her stuff sounds the same. Now don’t get your feathers ruffled if you are a big Jordin Sparks fan because in the end we all know Melinda Doolittle will be the next American Idol; I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Tonight on the elimination show, both Elliot Yamin and Maroon 5 will perform.
