Kellie Pickler was an unexpected departure on last night's American Idol results show!In a surprise exit that caught everyone off guard, Kellie Pickler was voted off American Idol last night. According to betting trends and online gambling odds at Sportsbook.com, Paris Bennett should've been the one to go, not Kellie. And if not Paris, Elliot Yamin was second last both in popularity and sportsbook odds, so him leaving would've made a bit more sense to internet gamblers who had thought Paris's departure was a sure thing.
More than ever, no matter what the judges or online gambling public think about the American Idol finalists, YOU'RE the boss in this competition. Reality TV is unpredictable at the best of times but with Elliot and Paris hanging on long enough to wave 4th favorite Kellie Pickler goodbye, it's anybody's race in this season of Idol.
No matter what the American Idol judges have to say, you're the boss!In the words of the immortal judging panel, Paris 'upped her game' and 'stepped up to the plate' to pull off another week of American Idol survival. And though Elliot Yamin fans believe their guy has had the right stuff (Simon Cowell's elusive X Factor) all along, even they would have to admit that Paula Abdul's tearful response to Elliot's performance of 'A song for you' will do a lot to pushing him closer towards the Top 3. Speaking through tears she gushed, "You move me. You are this handsome, evolved performer. You are an American Idol". Even Randy Jackson said after Yamin's performance, "I love you. You are dope. You were the bomb tonight!"
With yet another girl out of the competition, the American Idol Top 5 now consists of 3 guys and 2 girls. Online gambling odds are all over the place and are now being recalculated as a result of last night's shocking result. Suddenly, Randy Jackson's reported prediction that "a boy will win this season of American Idol" doesn't sound so off the wall.
For weeks, Chris Daughtry has remained the clear favorite to walk off with the recording contract that goes with winning the American Idol competition. Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks are hot on his heels though, with Elliot Yamin and Paris Bennett previously struggling to hang on. After last night's events, this may not be the clear-cut case it once seemed - and there could be money to made.
