April 23, 2007 — A few days ago, Carrie Underwood began working on the vocals for her sophomore album at a Nashville studio. Carrie tells Dial-Global how the followup to her 5 million selling debut CD Some Hearts is coming along well.
"We haven't exactly got the whole album figured out yet," she says. "Right now I'm in the process of recording way too many songs, and fortunately and unfortunately, they're turning out so great, I think it's going to be hard to figure out which ones stay and which ones we reserve for something else."
Carrie says she has co-written several of the songs that will probably be on the album. "It's amazing to get in there and be [involved in] a lot more of the recording process," she says. "I was a huge part of it the last album, but this album it's even more so. And I found that I'm not a horrible writer, so that's nice. But it's just a little more me, and it's just another talent that I hope to continue to develop."
Carrie says she personally loves the songs, many of which are up-tempo. "It seems to be another easy album situation, in that everybody agrees," she says. "I think that's rare, but it happened on the last album, and that one did pretty well." Carrie says the new CD will definitely be released this year, most likely in the fall, although no date has been set.
