Blog de Chris Sligh.....

Tonight, we got done with rehearsals and headed back to the hotel. Chris, Phil and I decided to go grab some dinner and we wandered up to Sunset and decided on a NY Pizza Parlor. It smelled great as we walked in and we took a seat, figured out what pizza we wanted and ordered it. The food was great. The three of us had a great time just hanging out and talking about things we struggle with, what we enjoy, what is frustrating about life right now and how much we all can't wait to get our careers on the road.
Obviously, the American Idol tour is going to be awesome, but right after that the 3 of us will be heading off to studios somewhere to work on our debut major label records (or at least it looks at this point like all 3 of us will be on major labels). Anyway, all 3 of us are really, really looking forward to making great records - at least we hope we can make great records.
I know for Rich and I, we love the studio as much or more than live situations...the studio can just be so much freaking fun.

After dinner we came back to the hotel and we hung out in Phil's room. We were going to go hang out with Melinda, so Chris decided to wash his face. As he was washing his face, Phil and I got into a huge discussion (i.e., argument) over the state of the music business. He really believes if someone makes a great record they can sell 15 or 20 million in the U.S. I contend that the days of diamond records (10 million) are over. We argued back and forth the reasons why we both held to our beliefs. Of course, my beliefs are so much more grounded in reality (kidding, of course). Anyway, after about 30 minutes of discussion we looked up and realized, well, that it had been 30 minutes. So, I yelled to Chris in the bathroom, "Chris, what the freak, dude?"

The bathroom door opens up. "Shut up! I'm getting ready!"

"Dude, how in the world has it taken you 30 minutes to wash your face?"

Long pause. "Well, I got to washing my face and just decided to take a shower." Pause. "And I shaved."

We laughed really hard. For some reason it was really hilarious to think about him sitting there washing his face and the logic it took to say, "why don't I just take a shower...my face is already wet - that's like 6% of my body. Might as well get the rest of it."
Finally, we went over to Gina and Haley's room where Lakisha & Stephanie were hanging out. Phil, Chris and I hung out for a while, then Chris left to go hang out with Blake. Phil and I hung out with the 4 girls for like 3 hours...it was great. We just talked about life and what it was like after we got voted off and how much we each individually wanted to win it, etc. Then we talked about our personal opinions of who will win the show, how rehearsals were going, stuff like that.

It was just another great night. Friends just got to hang out with each other, all of us wistful for the future, each of us ready for the next step...but lingering in a moment when friends can be friends and competition is long gone.

Tonight was great.

Chris Slight: Blake and I are great friends. Chris and him went out tonight on their own...I didn't want to impose. I wasn't invited so I didn't invite myself.
