Citation :Ryan Seacrest isn't shy about saying who he thinks will win this season: "I like Jordin," he tells PEOPLE.

Why? "First of all, she's a girl. She represents fantastic qualities. She's a great singer and a pretty girl," the Idol host said Sunday at the Final Four My CokeFest in Atlanta, Ga. "She's non-threatening, cute and attractive. Plus, she has this sincere likeability that is rare and genuine."

Asked what he makes of ever-controversial Sanjaya Malakar, Seacreast said, "Everywhere I go, people have been screaming at me to get rid of Sanjaya. And I say, 'Too bad, you're doing it.' ... But Sanjaya, he's an interesting character on the show. America hones in and gets rid of who needs to go and the best usually stay."

Speaking of interesting characters, what's up with his bickering with Simon? "We're friends," Seacrest said. "We're just extremely competitive on every level – to the point that he doesn't want a parking place any farther away than the one I have."

But it's all in fun, he says: "We don't lose sleep or take any of it personally. The key is not to take ourselves too seriously."

Citation :If Sanjaya prevails, America has lost

Posted April 3 2007
American Idol hasn't reached the hide-the-razor-blades stage, but it might not be long.

Ryan Seacrest joked last Wednesday that the second biggest question beyond who would go home was how Sanjaya Malakar would wear his hair. Then Seacrest appeared in a wig resembling the bizarre 'do Sanjaya wore the night before. This might have been a case of gallows humor.

Sanjaya's continued presence, a product of Idol-haters determined to sabotage the show by voting thousands of times for the outclassed 17-year-old, hasn't done significant harm yet. The contestants eliminated while Sanjaya stayed -- Brandon Rogers, Stephanie Edwards and Chris Sligh -- weren't going to win anyway.

There are still a couple or three more weeks when other faux contenders -- Haley Scarnato, Phil Stacey, Gina Glocksen and Chris Richardson are the most obvious -- could be dispatched without harm to the show.

Beyond that, however, Sanjaya lingering while others far more worthy are sent packing could begin to attack the integrity of the series. If someone like Melinda Doolittle, LaKisha Jones, the rapidly improving Jordin Sparks or Blake Lewis, deemed the leading male by Simon Cowell, were knocked out before Sanjaya, it could do irreparable harm. Viewers, who take finding America's next singing sensation seriously, would be turned off by the sham Idol will have become.

There was an ominous sign last week. The phone vote totals had been announced as high as 37 million during previous results shows. Last Wednesday, Seacrest announced that more than 30 million had voted, a falloff of almost 20 percent.

It could be that some Idol faithful have concluded that their vote really doesn't matter when computer hackers and phone slammers vote thousands of times apiece. What's more, with phone lines dominated by the TV terrorists, it's difficult for backers of legitimate contenders to get through.

If the powers that be at American Idol aren't concerned, they should be.

Citation :'Rocker Chick' Gina gets the star treatment

April 2, 2007
By MIKE MITCHELL Staff Writer

This is all part of the package for Gina Glocksen.

Glocksen can be seen posing casually with the rest of the cast on the April 9 issue, already available on newsstands.

The 22-year-old Naperville resident appears on the cover with her red-streaked hair pulled back, wearing jeans, heels and a black top. The magazine also features short profiles of each contestant in the top 10.

In the magazine, Glocksen talks about her relationship with her boyfriend, Joe Ruzicka, a teacher at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville. She also discusses how blogs and other media have criticized her weight.

"That's why they tell you not to read this stuff," she said.

Accompanying her profile as the "Rocker Chick" is a large head shot of Glocksen showing her tongue stud. She told People she ditched the piercing for several performances on the hit show but decided to put it back in.

PS : Bon show et GOOOOOOO Haley !
