Citation :Rockford’s Bennett moves on in ‘Idol’ competition

Rockford’s Paris Bennett advanced to the top 24 and is one step closer to becoming the next “American Idol.”

On tonight’s hit reality TV show, Bennett was one of 12 women and 12 men who advanced to the next round.

The 17-year-old Rockford native has wowed “American Idol” judges and viewers since her first audition.

The judges asked Bennett on tonight’s show how she felt about her performance so far.

“I felt like I lost a little charisma,” Bennett said.

Judge Randy Jackson replied, “This is tough for me ... Welcome, you’re through.”

Bennett jumped from her chair.

“I gotta go tell my mommy,” she squealed. “Oh my God!”

Bennett’s mother, Jemecia, was waiting for her daughter in the “holding room” when her daughter got the news.

Mother and daughter hugged.

Bennett lives in Fayetteville, Ga., but she has Rockford roots. She is the granddaughter of Grammy-winning former Rockfordian Ann Nesby, the great-granddaughter of Pastor Perry Bennett of Macedonia Baptist Church, and a former student at Christian Life and St. Paul Academy schools.

J'espère que Paris ne "chokera" pas à cause de la pression...elle est bien jeune (émotivement et professionnellement) puis devant les caméras c'est jamais facile...

Paris a tellement un beau potentiel...c'est à faire peur!!

Elle chante tellement bien pour son age et je trouve quelle merite de le faire le top 12

moi, quand je l'ai entendu parler...je me suis demandé si c'était une blague!! puis quand je l'ai entendu chanter, je suis tomber en bas de ma chaise...c'est pas juste la voix, c'est...la transformation lorsqu'elle se mets a chanter! en tout cas, j'avais le frisson dans le dos et j'ai bien hâte ce que ça va donner. après tout, ellen'a que 17 ans...une vie de star a cet âge c'est spécial!!

Je n'ai qu'une chose a dire! JADORE PARIS!!!!!!!
