Finalists chosen for Orleans People's Choice awards

Forty-seven individuals and businesses are in the running as finalists in the Orléans Chamber of Commerce 2006 TD Canada Trust People's Choice Business Awards.

They have emerged from a field that included 150 local businesses, nominated in sixteen different categories.

In all, more than 1,000 people cast almost 3,000 votes to select the winners.

The winners will receive their awards at a ceremony October18 in the theatre of the Orléans Client Service Centre on Centrum Blvd. Tickets are available from the Orleans Chamber of Commerce.

"The response to this year's voting was terrific," says Chamber executive director Peter

Stewart. "The sheer number of voters shows that this community supports local business."

Local Canadian Idol contestant Steffi DiDomenicantonio will perform during the evening.
