What do a reality show star, a supermodel, a boxing champ, an actor, a singer and a soap star have in common? They're all embarking on an intense competition, learning to ballroom dance in front of the nation and be critiqued by both viewers and judges alike!

"Dancing with the Stars" is a totally unique and original series that pairs a celebrity with a professional dance partner as they train and then compete in front of a studio audience in a televised dance competition. They will be judged by a panel of experts and also by viewers at home, with one couple being eliminated each week. "Dancing with the Stars" debuts WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), live!

"Dancing with the Stars" has broad appeal, offering viewers dazzling costumes, dancing, celebrity gossip, behind-the-scenes training and contemporary music performed by a live 15-piece band. The format has already been an international hit in several countries.

The following pairs will compete:

Trista Sutter and Louis van Amstel - As the star of the romantic reality series, "The Bachelorette," Trista is no stranger to televised competition: She met and married her husband of 17 months on television. Trista comes to the competition with some dance experience, having performed with the Miami Heat dancers at NBA games. She admits that hip-hop dancing is very different from ballroom-style dancing. Luckily her dance partner, Louis van Amstel, is a legend in the dance world, particularly in the style of Latin dance. He holds several titles, including the United States Professional Latin Champion and World Professional Show Dance Champion, and he directed and produced "Latin Fusion" on Broadway.

Rachel Hunter and Jonathan Roberts - Since 1989, when she posed for the cover of Sports Illustrated, Rachel Hunter has become one of the world's most recognizable faces. She has posed for hundreds of magazines, including Vogue and Elle, and has represented such cosmetic lines as Revlon, Covergirl and Pantene. Recently she's moved into the acting arena with appearances on "Suddenly Susan" and "The Drew Carey Show," and in one of last year's most popular music videos, "Stacey's Mom," by the Fountains of Wayne. She will be led by Jonathan Roberts, who brings ten years of dance experience to the competition. Jonathan is the 2004 USA Rising Star Latin Champion and the twice-undefeated USA Pro-Am 10 Dance Champion. He continues to compete and represent the USA in several Pro-Am competitions.

Evander Holyfield and Edyta Sliwinska - Evander Holyfield became the Heavyweight Champion of the world in 1990 and has won the title four times. As a professional boxer, he has faced numerous legends in the ring, including George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson. His dance partner is Edyta Sliwinska, who took first place in both the 2001 International Grand Ballroom Competition and the 2001 Holiday Ball. Edyta is currently dating her dance partner and another competitor, Alec Mazo (Kelly Monaco's dance partner).

Joey McIntyre and Ashly Delgrosso - As a former member of the one of the original boy bands, New Kids on the Block, Joey McIntyre grew up dancing and singing -- but never ballroom! As an adult he transitioned into acting and recently starred on Broadway, first in "Tick Tick Boom" and then in "Wicked." He has also appeared on ABC's "Boston Legal." His dance partner is Ashly Delgrosso, who has danced for her entire life. With her former dance partner and ex-husband, she has won several Amateur Ten Dance titles.

John O'Hurley and Charlotte Jorgensen - Best known for his role as charismatic catalogue king J. Peterman on the hit series "Seinfeld," John is an all-around entertainer. In addition to his numerous television credits, he has many stage credits. He also runs a busy company and performs comedy. His partner, Danish beauty Charlotte Jorgensen, has been dancing since the age of tn. She has held several titles, including 1999 U.S. Open Champion and 1998 Japanese Open International Ballroom Champion. Charlotte was Richard Gere's dance instructor as he prepared for the film "Shall We Dance."

Kelly Monaco and Alec Mazo - Currently starring on the ABC Daytime drama "General Hospital," Kelly gained national attention when she was featured in the May 1997 edition of Playboy magazine. Her partner, Alec Mazo, began dancing at age five in his native Russia. He was the Emerald Ball Latin Champion and placed first in the 2001 International Grand Ball and the 2001 Holiday Ball. He also runs the largest and most successful dance studio in Southern California. Alec recently began competing professionally with his girlfriend of four years, Edyta Sliwinska, who is partnered with Evander Holyfield for this competition.

In addition to learning precise movements and maneuvering in extravagant costumes, the pairs must maintain their focus, grace and composure during extremely high-pressured competition. Will they remain compatible during the process?

The couples have already embarked on intense training in preparation for the first live show. During the live shows, judges will give a score based on several factors, including technical execution. But the judges' scores alone do not decide a couple's fate. Viewers at home can call in and vote for their favorites. The scores from viewers are combined with the judges' for an ultimate score that determines each couple's ranking. At the end of the evening, the couple with the lowest score is eliminated (although no couple will be eliminated in the first show). When the final two couples remain, the ultimate dance-off will determine who wins the trophy.

"Dancing with the Stars" is the American version of the international smash hit series, "Strictly Come Dancing." This version is produced in America by BBC Worldwide. Richard Hopkins (UK) and Conrad Green (USA) are executive producers. Izzie Pick is supervising producer. Alex Rudzinski directs.

In this first round of competition, each couple will demonstrate how well their training and rehearsing has paid off, by performing a choreographed cha cha cha routine or a waltz.

This Latin style of dance (cha cha cha) allows the female professional dancers, Edyta, Charlotte and Ashly, to lead their celebrity dance partners, Evander, John and Joey.

In the ballroom style (waltz), the male professional dancers, Louis, Jonathan and Alec, lead their partners, Trista, Rachel and Kelly.

Voilà mes petits commentaires.

Le gars des Back Treet Boys, Joey, bougeait bien dans la chacha.  Il manquait des pas mais il s'amusait beaucoup et sa partenaire était très bonne.

Rachel Hunter, j'ai beaucoup aimé leur performance en valse.  C'est vrai que c'était plus du ballet que de la valse, mais c'était très gracieux et très romantique.  J'ai trouvé les juges un peu durs dans leurs notes.

Holleyfield, le boxeur, je croyais jamais qu'il y arriverait.  En fait, il m'a bien fait rire.  Pour être parti d'aussi loin, il s'en est bien sorti.

La fille de General Hospital, Kelly, avait un partenaire à faire rêver.  Avec un partenaire comme ça, impossible de rater.  Mais le juges avaient raison, on ne sentait pas le romantisme, l'émotion dans leur danse.  Elle manquait de confiance et ça paraissait.

Le gars de Seinfeld, John, a vraiment dansé!  Pas très à l'aise au début, il s'est bien repris et a offert une très bonne performance.

La bachelorette Trista, je trouvais qu'elle n'était pas en communication avec son partenaire et dansait plus pour la galerie.  Ils ne m'ont pas impressionnée.

Mes préférés, Rachel et Jonathan.  
Je me suis inscrite et j'ai voté pour eux.

J'ai bien aimé l'émission, c'est un bon divertissement.  Je vais continuer la suivre avec attention.

Moi aussi j'ai bien aimé ça. Y a pas trop de bitcherie pour rien comme dans la plupart des shows de reality, et ça implique un minimum de talent. C'est vrai que Kelly Monaco avait l'air pogné lorsqu'elle dansait, et peu d'émotions au visage. J'ai regardé un bout, ça jouait avant Extreme make over....je sais pas trop    je ne connais pas les vedettes qui y sont alors j,avais de la difficulté à les démèler des danseurs professionnels.....mais c,est original comme télé-réalité, ça change de la chanson......

Honnêtement,je m'en fou que Christa et son mec soit partis! Pas que je les aimais pas,mais ils m'étaient indifférent!

Par contre,trèssssssss heureuse que Monaco et Alec soit rester!!!   Alec.....  

Mais ils étaient tu hot ce soir eux autres!?Y'avait de la steam sur ma télé... Ok,c'était pas de la danse tant que ca (Plus boite de nuit,que danse social),mais maudit que c'était cool a regarder!    

Et elle....Wowwwwww!! Méchant pétard!!!   Bcp d'hommes sont heureux ce soir..

Autant je n'avais pas aimer Rachel et son mec la semaine dernière,autant j'ai bcp apprécier cette semaine! J'ai franchement eu peur qu'ils partent...Elle s'est amiliorer je trouve!!!

Pour Joey,c'est lui le meilleur danseur du groupe je trouve! Son expérience NKOB y est pour bcp! Par contre,sa tête tjs figer ds les airs me fatigue un peu...J'aimerais le voir plus relax!!!

Holyfield...KESSÉ CA!!!!!!??????? Je le trouve pourri depuis la semaine passé...Il a manquer 3 fois sur cette semaine...Qu'il le foute dehors!!! Il n'est vraiment pas a sa place...

Et pour John O'Hurley,il est très a l'aise!! Il semble aimer ca...J'aime bcp sa partenaire! Elle fait tout pour le mettre a son avantage..!

Ce soir,j'ai surtout aimer Rachel et Jonathan et Monaco et Alec!!!

mais les éliminés j en avait des frissons , ca devait etre la toune mais j ai vraiment rouvé ca super .

que dire du boxeur ... rien a part késsé qui fait , qui continu la boxe , il aurait du partir ce soir .

Comme je travaillais, ce soir, je fais mes commentaires en regardant mon enregistrement.


Rachel Hunter, très sexy dans sa robe.  Je les ai trouvé vraiment excellents.  Beaucoup de chimie avec son partenaire.   24/30…….44/60

Joey McIntyre  dans un Quick Step endiablé.  Vraiment pas facile comme danse.  Beaucoup de pas de base, beaucoup de légèreté et beaucoup de plaisir de leur part mais manque un peu de précision.  21/30……41/60

Trista Sutter qui amène son mari à la répétition parce qu'elle trouve la rumba trop langoureuse. Je les ai trouvé un peu brusques dans leurs mouvements et pas du tout chaleureux mais, ils ont fait de très belles figures.  Comme la semaine dernière, je trouve qu'elle ne se donne pas, elle ne vit pas ses danses.  19/30….. 37/60

John O'Hurley m'a bien fait rire pendant ses répétitions.  Mais quand il s'est mis à danser… Wowwwwww  Beaucoup de souplesse et de classe.  Il survolait la piste.  Fantastique!!!        26/30….. 46/60

Kelly Monaco a abordé la rumba avec beaucoup de détermination.  Très sexy, elle s'est donnée à fond.  Mais c'était trop technique à mon goût.  17/30…… 30/60

Evander Holyfield à 250 livres avait tout un défi à relever.  Sa partenaire a tout fait pour bien le faire paraître mais il ne l'avait pas du tout.  Bel effort quand même.  14/30….. 32/60

Je suis assez d'accord avec les juges, surtout pour les 3 premières places.

Le vote du public a sauvé Kelly.  

Trista est éliminée.  Ça ne me déçoit pas, elle a refusé de s'investir.  Je ne ressentais rien en la regardant danser.

Cette semaine, j'ai voté pour John… il a donné toute une performance.

J'aime beaucoup ce show, je ne m'ennuie pas du tout pendant toute l'heure que ça dure.

Moi, Trista, je l'ai trouvée froide.  La rumba est une danse sud-américaine et il ne faut pas avoir peur de se frotter, de se toucher et, surtout, de se regarder.  Trista n'a pas établi le contact avec son partenaire.  Elle avait fait la même erreur la semaine dernière.

Enfin, c'est mon opinion, c'est comme ça que je l'ai vu.

J'ai regardé ça pour la première fois hier soir.  Je connais pas grand chose à la danse, mais c'était amusant!

Je m'attendais à ce que Joey McIntyre soit bon avant même d'avoir vu l'émission...  Pas été déçue!

Le hic, c'est que c'est le seul que je connais (j'en ai tellement entendu parler dans le temps de New Kids on the Block...   ).  OK, je sais qui est Hollyfield aussi...  Et John O'Hurley est comme facile à retenir, même si je ne le connaissais pas.  Mais pour les filles, je ne les connais pas du tout, alors 2 minutes après la fin de la danse, je ne me rappelle plus à quoi ça ressemblait...
