Petite nouvelle pour le Result show

An Unexpected Duo Takes Center Stage on American Idol
6-Mar-2009
Written by: Whitney Luce

Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West will share the stage on American Idol’s results show this week.

Who would have thought that we’d see Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West on stage together? The duo will share the stage as performers during Wednesday’s elimination show, the Associated Press reports.

Since Idol eliminations can seem drawn out, repetitive, and packed with commercials, the performance is sure to boost appeal.

This will be West’s first appearance on the series, according to the Associated Press. But, not to worry, West will be in good company with Idol veteran and first time winner Clarkson. West will perform his hit single, “Heartless,” and Clarkson will sing “My Life Would Suck Without You,” the Associated Press reports.

The appearance is perfect timing for Clarkson, whose new album drops Tuesday.

Michael Jackson To Take Over American Idol
In OnScreen & Music by Liz , on Friday, March 06, 2009

The masked-one gets his own week.

It's a big week for The King of Pop. First, Michael Jackson had us all speculating about whether he was going to make a musical comeback. Then, MJ confirmed he would indeed be performing a series of concerts in London. And now, American Idol is gettin' a piece of the masked-one.

The LA Times has confirmed that the first week of American Idol's "final rounds" (i.e. the round where the Top 13 actually start getting voted off week-by-week) will be devoted to the gloved one's songbook. The ghost of Michael Jackson past will also be joined by the real life Kanye West and the real life Kelly Clarkson, who will perform on Wednesday's results show.

It'll be interesting to see what Michael Jackson's songs are selected. Matt Giraud chose the Jackson Five's "Who's Lovin' You," and Kris Allen performed "Man In The Mirror," so we've seen a bit of Jackson so far this season. I'm rootin' for Anoop to do a little "Billie Jean" or maybe a little "PYT"... If you'll excuse me, I need to get a memo to Anoop before Tuesday.

'American Idol': Michael Jackson is the theme for next week's show, but will he appear?

Fox has confirmed reports that the Top 13 finalists on American Idol will tackle Michael Jackson (his music, not the man) in their first performances on the main Idol stage next Tuesday, March 10. Several contestants told EW.com at last night's Top 13 party in Los Angeles that they were excited and more than a bit nervous to take on the King of Pop's catalog, but it was unclear at the time when that night would fall in Idol's schedule. "Michael Jackson might be coming up," said contestant Kris Allen, "which would be kinda fun, but scary as well since I actually did a Michael Jackson song [in the semifinal round]."

A rep for the show says Jackson will not be mentoring the contestants, but was mum about whether Jackson would be making an appearance, replying only, "Not to my knowledge." Meanwhile, Kanye West and original American Idol Kelly Clarkson are scheduled to perform on Wednesday's elimination show.

* Mar 6, 2009
* by Joyce Eng

Still reeling from American Idol's wild wild-card results? Here's some more news to get crazy about: Original Idol Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West will perform live on the results show on Wednesday, Fox announced.

West will perform "Heartless," while Clarkson will belt out her latest, "My Life Would Suck Without You," off her new album, All I Ever Wanted, in stores March 17.

Of course, after all that's sung and done, one of the unlucky Top 13 will get the boot.

Who are you most excited for? Kanye or Kelly?
