Another finalist booted on 'American Idol'

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Paul McDonald kept grinning while being gouged on "American Idol."

The smiley 26-year-old singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tenn., was revealed to have received the fewest viewer votes on the Fox talent contest Thursday after kicking off Wednesday's film-themed performances with Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll" from "Risky Business." Jennifer Lopez requested he sing "Maggie May" as his swan song, and he happily obliged.

McDonald was joined in the bottom three by fellow finalists Stefano Langone, the smooth 21-year-old crooner from Kent, Wash., who sang Boyz II Men's "End of the Road" from "Boomerang," and Haley Reinhart, the bluesy 20-year-old college student from Wheeling, Ill., who growled Blondie's "Call Me" from "American Gigolo."

Seven finalists remain in the competition.

In case you missed it, first performances were by country singers Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.

Hailey Reinhart and Casey Abrams performed a duo showcasing their natural chemistry. ”Tell me about it baby” he shouts out to her during the performance. All three judges and the entire audience gave them a standing ovation and showered them with praise.

The most beautiful woman in the world, Jennifer Lopez, was in the most glittery gold dress, looking fabulous as always.

After a zombie Ford music video, results came in on the first four. First, Scotty was safe, then Lauren, and then Casey! Hailey was first to be in the bottom three.

Years later, Kelly Clarkson returns to the American Idol stage, better than ever performing “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with country music singer Jason Aldean.

Next, the four guys perform “Mrs. Robinson” – gospel singer, Jacob Lusk; heavy metal singer, James Durbin; Paul McDonald; and Latin R&B singer, Stefano. First to be safe, James and Jacob, then Stefano and Paul joined Hailey in the bottom three.

Rihanna performed her latest single “California King Bed” wearing a long beige gown rocking her mega-red curls.

Chaka Khan & Anita Baker made an appearance showing their support in the audience.

In the bottom three, first, Hailey is safe, breaking the female losing streak, then Stefano.

Paul McDonald sang a fun performance, as he accepted the results. Surely, he will do well with the millions of new fans. At least he wrangled a great, new girlfriend out of the deal, Nikki Reed, Rosalie in Twilight.
